RULES
1) The first “W. A. Mozart” International Piano Competition of Lugano is open to young musicians of all nationalities, by means of fixed camera video files (also recorded on a mobile phone), in profile, showing the pianist’s hands and face. The pieces should not be edited but can be recorded separately.
However, the classical sonata’s movements and the preludes and fugues should be together.
It is preferable that the recordings are done starting 1 Feb. 2020, but in the case of no adequate piano being available, older recordings will be admitted.
2) Application deadline is 28 July 2020. The registration fee can be refundable only if the competition does not take place.
3) Applications must be submitted by 28th July 2020 using the form found in the link mozartswiss.org/en/application.
The participation fee should be paid by bank transfer to:

4) The competition is divided into two categories. A participation certificate will be issued to every candidate.
5) The total sum for the prizes granted to the top three participants will amount to 55% of the total participation fees.
6) If a candidate has family or an affinity relationships, or in the 2 years before the beginning of the competition, had a public didactic connection with a member of the jury, the latter will abstain from the relative discussion and evaluation. Such abstention will be declared in the report.
7) In this special edition there will be no president of the jury. Nevertheless, the jury will vote according to the procedures established by the competition.
8) The prize, net of possible bank charges, will be paid by bank transfer immediately after the publication of the results.
9) Every juror will receive the video links and a form where evaluations ranging from 1 to 10 will be written, signed and sent to the organisation.
10) At the expiration of the participation terms a list of competitors and relative evaluations will be published on the Associazione Mozart Svizzera Facebook page in order to make the operations transparent.
11) The jurors will vote by 8th August 2020. The final evaluation will result from the average of the grades of the jurors. Ex aequos prizes are possible. The jurors’ judgement is final and not subject to appeal.
12) By 12 August 2020 the final results with the winners’ names and videos will be published in the Associazione Mozart Svizzera website and Facebook page.
13) In case of litigation, the original rules written in Italian are to be taken as authentic.
14) Enrolment to the competition implies the acceptance of the present rules.
CATEGORIES AND PROGRAMME
JUNIOR CATEGORY, up to 18 years old – free choice of programme: max. duration 25 minutes.
MASTER CATEGORY, from 19 up to 32 years old – free choice of programme: max. duration 35 minutes.
The Junior Category programme must include a virtuoso Etude.
The Master Category programme must include one piece from the baroque or classical period.
It's not compulsory to perform a Mozart’s composition, unless the candidate is not interested to be selected for the Leopold Mozart's prize.
PARTICIPATION FEES
Junior Cat.: CHF 70
Master Cat.: CHF 85
Enrolments with unpaid fees will be rejected.
PRIZES
To the 1st classified of Junior and Master categories: prize amount resulting from 50% of 55% total of contribution paid for each category.
To the 2nd classified of Junior and Master categories: prize amount resulting from 30% of 55% total of contribution paid for each category.
To the 3rd classified of Junior and Master categories: prize amount resulting from 20% of 55% total of contribution paid for each category.
"Leopold Mozart" Prize of 150 CHF for the best performance of a piece by W. A. Mozart.
Carles Lama, member of the jury and director of KNS Classical, will choose one or more young pianists among the participants offering them the possibility to record a CD published by KNS Classical.
The winners of the 1st Prize of the two categories will be invited to perform a recital during the year 2021 for the Associazione Mozart of Rovereto (TN), Italy, a recital for the Associazione Mozart of Lugano, Switzerland, a concert for the Association Eutherpe of León, Spain, a concert recital for the Association Musica al Tempio, Milan, Italy, a recital for the season of Il Giardino di Fuenti of Cetara (SA), Italy.
All winners will have the opportunity of performing a concert (max 50 min.) in live streaming or of having one of their pre-recorded concerts broadcast (in any circuit).
The live or recorded concert of all categories will be published in the Facebook page and on the website of the “Associazione Mozart Svizzera”.
